Are Your Providers Aligned With Your Hospital’s Mission?

It's a common concept: if an individual is engaged in his activity, he will perform it at a higher level and with greater enthusiasm.  In the OR setting, a clinician who provides a more optimal patient experience will yield improved clinical outcomes, adhere more to safety protocols and demonstrate increased quality measures.  These actions, in turn, benefit the hospital in their efforts to increase surgical referrals, grow their patient volumes and develop a strong reputation for quality service.

Engaging your clinicians can be accomplished through a number of ways.  The biggest one?  Ask for input.  Be sure you have talented employees and make it a point to obtain their insight.  And get those employees involved with one another through a mentorship initiative.  This enables the sharing of best practices and the strengthing of your employee base.  Quint Studer, founder of the Studer Group, also suggests not letting low performance go unremarked.  Stronger employees will disengage when observering lower performers being allowed to slide.  The hospital may risk losing their top performers through spending the majority of their time resolving the problems associated with those at the bottom.

MedStream engages our providers, seeking their input, establishing mentoring relationships and addressing low performance.  It is for this reason anesthesiologists and CRNAs want to work at our practices - they prefer the type of environment we establish in our partner hospitals.  It's also at the core of why hospitals want to partner with MedStream.  We perform an important role in improving the department's performance because we align ourselves and our providers with your hospital's mission.  For more information, contact us.
